Students are active in the community through field trips, volunteering locally, elementary sport playdays, high school athletics and more. The purpose and objective at the core of our school drives academics, culture, extra-curricular activities, and athletics. Northside teachers enjoy engaging learners using competency-focused BC curriculum and assessment.

Northside Christian School is one of the many vibrant schools in Vanderhoof and is operated as a ministry of the Northside Church. As a Group 1 Independent BC School, Northside is designed for families who seek BC education from a Christian perspective. Northside teachers are BC Certified, curriculum and assessment practices follow BC Ministry of Education and Child Care standards, and regular inspections are directed by the Independent School Act.

Affiliations

Northside Christian School is a member of Federation of Independent School Associations in BC (FISA) and Society of Christian Schools BC (SCSBC). These partnerships provide connection with other schools as well as training and professional development opportunities for staff.

Safer Schools Together (SST) is an organization through which regular safety training is accessed for the Northside School Safety Officer and Team.

Northside Administrators collaborate regularly with other Independent School Principals.

Northside Christian School is a BC School Sports (BCSS) member and athletic teams compete within BCSS procedures.

  • Northside offers Kindergarten through Grade 12.

  • Parents contact the school office for information and office staff will arrange a family tour when school is in operation. If parents are interested in enrollment following their tour, they contact the school for a formal interview with both parents and principal. Following the interview conversation, parents may apply for enrollment. If the Northside Admissions Team feels we have the resources to serve the family, acceptance follows.

  • Northside Christian School is for families where parents are daily training their children to love God and who want to enroll their students in a small Christian school. Students in Grade 7 and above should desire attendance at Northside. Northside Christian School is one of the many good schools in Vanderhoof and isn’t designed to recruit students from other schools or accept students whose needs would be better served by the resources available in another local school.

  • Yes, even during the current teacher shortage, Northside teachers are certified by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care. When certified teachers are not available, Northside administration works through the process of receiving short term certification through the MECC and provides mentoring for qualified individuals who apply to teach and do not yet have a teaching certificate.

  • Each year tuition is evaluated and is usually raised at the current inflation rate. Please contact the office for more information.

  • Northside Christian School needs to add classrooms! Many families are seeking Christian school for their children. If you’d like to partner with us in our school ministry, please contact the school office for details. Your donation to this initiative is appreciated and will be a blessing.

    The Northside Church operates a Tuition Donation Fund, where your donations are directed to families needing tuition assistance. Please contact our office for more information.

  • Northside Christian School is a ministry of the Northside Church, and is operated by Northside Church Society.

  • Northside Christian School Sanctioned Fundraising for school needs happens each year. Our present practice is to conduct fundraising initiatives for Northside Athletics each fall. After Christmas we direct our fundraising toward school needs as directed by Northside School Board of Trustees. Currently we are raising funds for new classrooms allowing us to serve more students.

  • Northside Christian School began September 1977 in the current Grade 1 classroom. The building was enlarged once in the late 70’s and again in the 80’s with the gymnasium addition.

  • Northside Christian School uses athletics as part of our education ministry. Elementary students are introduced to ice skating and cross-country skiing, as well as various sports in Health and Physical Education classes. They also participate in playdays with local elementary schools each year in Ultimate Frisbee, Floor Hockey, European Handball and more. High school sport teams are conducted according to school schedule and goals, and student interest and numbers. Basketball, Cross-Country, Golf, Soccer, Track and Field, and Volleyball are some of our current athletic endeavours.

  • Northside Christian School is a Group 1 Independent School in BC operating under the Independent School Act. Provincial curriculum and assessment are part of the Grad Program resulting in BC Dogwood or BC Evergreen Diplomas. As an Independent School, Northside undergoes regular, rigorous inspections of curriculum and assessment, records, policies, personnel, facilities, and more by the MECC.
